Congestion, trust and housing Aucklanders' top issues

An overwhelming 92% of Aucklanders rate traffic congestion as their city’s most important issue.

However, only 15% rate the Government’s management of this issue as good or very good.

Some 97% of Aucklanders rate trust that issues are being managed as important to them.

The score for Government on this issue is 20% good to very good.

Affordable housing is the third top ranked issue, with 90% saying it is important.

17% say the Government’s management of this issue is good to very good.

Above: the top 5 issues. Below, how Government management of issues rates

Horizon Research surveyed 737 adults within Auckland City, asking them to rate the importance of 21 issues to them personally, and then rate the Government’s management of those issues.

The survey represents the 18+ population in Auckland at the most recent census. The maximum margin of error at a 95% confidence level is +/- 3.6%.

The Auckland issues survey indicates priorities for the city’s citizens – and which ones to manage better if the Government wishes to lift it ratings, and potentially its vote at this year’s general election on September 23.

Full charts on the issues surveyed can be downloaded here.
